I was delighted to go along to the small Dolls House Fair at Yealmpton yesterday. Small was very much the word in both tone and size, as the show is run by Bryn Jones within the Yealmpton Community Centre, in Yealmpton, Devon -15 minutes from Plymouth.

It was a great little show, and we had 13 stands of super miniature items ranging from Dolls Houses from The Dolls House Shop ”In the House That Jack Built” 11 Southside Street, the Barbican, Plymouth to specialised celebration cakes from Karens Miniatures, an interesting range of various items from Wee Tartan Minis, wonderful handmade craftesmen made furniture from Trevellyn Miniatures, plus of course myself as Merry Gourmet Miniatures with our English period Food, Period Kitchen Items and Victorian Advertising China.

The show had a lovely atmosphere, very friendly and warm, and the Community Centre is a credit to the area, being well lit, spacious, wheelchair friendly and in very good repair. The traders even had bacon butties before the fair opened at 10.30am, and chocolate cake from the WI to keep them going plus it was only £1.50 to get in - a real treat for the visitors.

Bryn will be holding the show again on Sunday 14 September 2008, so watch this space for more news on this fabulous little fair.

Not long now to the popular Spring show in Leeds, Yorkshire. Now in its 27th year, this will be held at Pudsey Civic Hall, Dawsons Corner, Pudsey Leeds LS28 5TA on Saturday April 19th 2008 from 10.30am to 4.00pm. Admission prices remain unchanged at £3.50 for all adults and just 50p for accompanied school aged children.

Facilities as usual include disabled access, a comprehensive cafeteria, bar, Free Parking, and professional signposting. For further details including a map and full exhibitor list go to www.doreenjeffriesdollshousefairs.co.uk

We are delighted to have a packed show of wonderful artisans, making for another top quality event with something for everyone.

Many of our ‘regulars’ will be there for you, and as always we have some great new exhibitors. Simply Silver with their fabulous silver and gold miniatures will join us for the first time. Another new face for Pudsey will be Mags Cassidy from Mags-nificent Miniatures who has previously been with us at Stafford and will be bringing her vast range of period foods. Tony Knott ’s wonderful bronze and pewter miniatures will be another welcome addition to the choice at the show. Also joining us in April will be Steph’s Miniatures with their amazing variety of dressed furniture items and accessories. If you haven’t seen the miniature cottages made by Herdwick Landscapes yet, you are in for a treat. So cute, they are very hard to resist! Mini Munchies will have a range of foods and some furniture while Present Address have a wide range of dressed furniture to tempt. Whitecroft Miniatures always offer a wide range of unusual furniture and accessories including many for the mini church. If you are looking for authentic packaging for your cupboards or shops Platts Mini Packages have hundreds to choose from covering the period 1800 to the present day. GlynnWrath Miniatures is a very new business supplying hand made wooden floorboards and we are looking forward to welcoming them to Pudsey this time.

We are looking forward to welcoming back Ray Storey Lighting, Little China, Bill Jones, Petite Properties and The Dolls House Draper after their absence at the last show.

BBC CHILDREN IN NEED APPEAL

As we raised such a wonderful amount for this Charity last November (almost £1000) and we still have lots of exciting things to offer you, we have decided to have a sales table again this time.

FREE PRIZE DRAW

We will have our usual free draw for all visitors to the show. We have not our usual one but TWO prizes this time. First is a wonderful hamper of accessory kits and DIY bits worth £100 which has been very kindly donated by The Craft Pack Company who will be exhibiting their wider range at the show. Second prize is a £25 Voucher kindly donated by Georgina John of Heritage Homes dolls house shop in Nantwich, Cheshire. The voucher will be redeemable for miniatures at Georgina’s wonderful shop. We thank these kind donors for our wonderful prizes.

Don’t miss this popular show - April 19th 2008 - and we will look forward to welcoming you there.

Many of you will remember Sofina Leigh who traded as Tryphena’s Trifles, who died a year ago, shortly after the 2007 Spring Miniatura. Last year we were asked by Jack her husband, to take her miniature stock and items and we are now asking if anyone would be interested in buying her old stock, which we are selling on behalf of Jack.

We would be delighted to talk to any interested parties about the items we are holding, costs and delivery etc, and would be grateful if you would get in touch with either Gail or Aileen Tucker of Merry Gourmet Miniatures by email on enquiries@merrygourmetminiatures.co.uk or by telephone on 01225 466533 to discuss the matter further.

Lesley Manieri is coming back to England from Australia in the Autumn to attend the Autumn Miniatura in Birmingham.

Lesley will also be offering knitting workshops which will be held in Wychwood Cottage, in the Evenlode Valley in Oxfordshire, a short distance from Stowe-On-The-Wold or Burford. There will be a choice of 2 workshops, the first on 17th September 2008 which will be Knitting with Silk, and the second on 24th September of Victorian Clothes. It is assumed that everyone attending can knit, but experience in miniature knitting is not essential. However, the first workshop of Knitting with Silk is recommended for those with miniature knitting experience due to the thin yarn used.

For more details and how to book either email Lesley at Lmanieri@ihug.co.au or write to Lesley Manieri, 249 Warringah Road, Beacon Hill, NSW 2100, Australia.
